Juxta-Fit™ Premium and Essentials Leggings
What is the difference between the Juxta-Fit™ Premium and the Juxta-Fit™ Essentials line of garments?
The Juxta-Fit™ Premium and Essentials lines offer all of the same benefits and therapeutic values. The Premium line comes with a 1 year warranty and offers the better value. The Essentials line is offered at a more affordable price and comes with a 6 month warranty. Both of these garment lines offer standard sized lower leggings, whereas the Premium line is also available in custom-made legging options for the whole leg. The Juxta-Fit™ Armsleeve, Glove, and Gauntlet are also part of the Essentials line.
What sizes and lengths are available for the Juxta-Fit™?
Juxta-Fit™ lower leggings are available in a short 28cm length and a long 36cm length. The standard sizes are available in Small, Medium, Medium Full Calf, Large, Large Full Calf, XL, XL Full Calf, and XXL sizes in each length. Juxta-Fit™ leggings can also be custom-made to your measurements.
Why has the size range changed for the XL Juxta-Fit™?
We have added additional sizes to the standard Juxta-Fit™ garment lines to accommodate more diverse limb shapes. The standard leggings are now also available in Medium Full Calf, Large Full Calf, and XL Full Calf size options. Due to this addition, the existing XL’s size range had to be changed to accommodate the addition of the Full Calf options. Please be sure to take a closer look at the new sizing chart if you anticipate re-ordering a standard sized Juxta-Fit™.
Why should I consider ordering a custom Juxta-Fit™ if I fit into an XXL according to the sizing chart?
We recommend ordering a custom garment, because generally as legs begin to approach this size range the shape is more likely to differ from the standard garment design. Limbs of this size will benefit significantly more from a garment that is custom made to its exact shape.
My CircAid® Custom Classic-Flex™ had foam inserts in it, but the Juxta-Fit™ does not; why?
With the Juxta-Fit™ we use Breathe-O-Prene™ for the body of the garment which has allowed us to make a legging that contours the leg shape perfectly by creating a unique pattern for every limb. When using individual inelastic straps, if the limb circumference changes dramatically, the strap will only make contact with the area that has the greatest circumference and therefore foam is used to insure compression on the thinner areas. If you feel that your Juxta-Fit™ would benefit from a foam insert, please let us know. We may be able to help you.
What is the purpose of having SilverTec™ in the garment if I’m wearing it over a sock?
The SilverTec’s™ anti-microbial properties aid in preventing bacterial growth within the garment, which helps reduce odor. Our Premium line of Juxta-Fit™ garments are provided with a liner that contains silver coated fibers. The silver content in the liner acts as an anti-odor agent and also reduces bacterial growth within the liner. The Essentials line of garments is provided with a liner that is treated with Microban®, another example of an anti-microbial finish which helps reduce bacterial growth within the liner.
Can I wear the Juxta-Fit™ directly on my skin?
We always recommend wearing the sock or liner provided with your Juxta-Fit™. However, many of our patients have found that the Juxta-Fit™ is so comfortable that they actually prefer to wear it directly on the skin. Many of these people have also notice reduced slippage when doing so.
Can I cut bands off or cut down the Juxta-Fit™?
No. The Juxta-Fit™ is not designed to be cut or modified in any way, and doing so will void the warranty.
How much increase or reduction in limb circumference will the Juxta-Fit™ accommodate?
The standard sizes can accommodate any circumference that falls within its given range stated by the standard sizing chart. All of the custom Juxta-Fit™ leg garments are designed to incorporate a 5% increase and a 20% decrease in limb circumference. The Juxta-Fit™ Armsleeve accommodates a 5% increase and a 10% decrease in arm circumference.
Can I machine wash the Juxta-Fit™?
It is always best to hand wash and drip dry your CircAid® compression garments in order to extend their life. However, it is safe to machine wash your Juxta-Fit on a gentle cycle and dry using a low heat setting. If doing so with other clothing, it is also a good idea to put your Juxta-Fit™ into a pillow case in order to prevent the Velcro® from damaging any other clothes and to aid in keeping it free from lint.
What warranty does the Juxta-Fit™ Premium and Essentials line have?
The Juxta-Fit™ Premium’s warranty is for manufacturing defects for up to 1 year and the Juxta-Fit™ Essentials’ warranty is for manufacturing defects for up to 6 months from the date of patient purchase.
Is the Comfort Compression Anklet™ covered under warranty?
No, the anklet is not covered under warranty. Unless it is defective upon arrival, the anklet will not be replaced.
Can I still order a Comfort Single-Band EZ Ankle-Foot Wrap™ with the Juxta-Fit™?
Yes. Upon request, we will switch out the Comfort Compression Anklets™ with a Comfort Single-Band EZ Ankle-Foot Wrap™ at no additional charge.
What is the difference between the interlocking and the standard Juxta-Fit™ Ankle-Foot Wrap? Which one should I order?
The standard Juxta-Fit™ Ankle-Foot Wrap features a closed-heel design, whereas the interlocking Ankle-Foot Wrap has interlocking bands at the heel. The interlocking bands allow the patient to adjust the length of the Ankle-Foot Wrap. This may be beneficial for patients with feet measuring over 25cm from the heel to the base of the toes. The interlocking Ankle-Foot is also recommended for targeting specific areas of heel edema as the interlocking bands can be angled and adjusted as needed.
Custom Juxta-Fit™ specific questions
What is the difference between the knee-piece and the knee cover?
The knee-piece is an actual compression garment that is designed to cover the leg from just below the knee to just above. The knee cover is a complimentary strap that is placed over the knee cap to cover any gaps and supply additional compression when needed.
How is the patented bandwidth control giving gradient compression?
Given Laplace’s Law, the same amount of force yields less compression as circumference increases. This assures gradient compression in situations where a limb is smallest at its bottom and consistently increases in circumference throughout its length. However, if the limb decreases in circumference at any point, which it often times does, then the gradient maybe lost. In these situations, we use an increased band width to reduce the compression levels in these areas, therefore insuring that gradient compression is maintained.
Can the Upper Legging be made with a lateral rise?
With the Juxta-Fit™ a lateral rise is not effective in contributing any additional compression. With this particular garment, compression is only achieved when the garment is fully encompassing the leg. Consider using our Comfort Capri™ for higher compression through the waist.
What are the shelf straps for?
The shelf straps are designed to offer additional support and coverage to shelves and lobules that may be present on the limb. The straps can also be used to cover any potential gaps that may appear in between the straps where the Juxta-Fit™ has difficulty matching the limb contour.
Some other compression garments have a non-slip lining to prevent sliding, does the Juxta-Fit™?
Yes. All custom Juxta-Fit™ Leggings with an upper leg portion come standard with our disposable Comfort Non-Slip Liner™. The Comfort Non-Slip Liner™ is also available for purchase in two sizes that will fit most lower or upper legs. Note: most other garments use latex as the non-slip material. Many people are allergic to latex and therefore CircAid® is committed to keeping all of its products latex free including the Comfort Non-Slip Liner™.
What length will my custom Juxta-Fit™ be?
Each custom leg garment is made to the specific medial lengths given on the measuring chart less 1/4” (.64cm) to aid in preventing unwanted rubbing on the ankle, knee crease, and groin areas. The Juxta-Fit™ Armsleeve is made to the provided wrist to axilla length measurement plus 1cm at the forearm for additional wrist coverage.
I ordered a custom Juxta-Fit™ for each limb, why are they different shapes and different lengths?
Each custom garment is designed to the exact measurements that are submitted to us. These measurements affect the number of bands the legging has, the band widths, and the length of the garment. It is important to pay close attention to the label inside the garment indicating whether it is designed for the right or left limb.
Why does one of my Juxta-Fit™ garments have shelf-straps and not the other?
Shelf-straps are included when the limb circumference measurements indicate that they are needed. This generally occurs when there are large jumps in the circumference measurements and the limb may need additional support and compression, or the Juxta-Fit™ may have difficulty matching the limb contour.
How much should my separate garments overlap?
Custom Juxta-Fit™ garments are designed to have a 2 inch minimum overlap between garment pieces. For patients with especially large limbs, the overlap amount is increased to allow for more adjustments. The patient may adjust the garments as needed to provide the most comfortable fit, which may result in slightly more or less overlap between the garment pieces.
Where should the octagon knee back be positioned on my leg?
For optimal fit, the knee crease should line up with the bottom half of the octagon knee back.
What are your most popular Juxta-Fit™ garment configurations?
Generally our most popular garment configuration for the Juxta-Fit™ is the upper leg with knee and lower legging combination if whole-leg coverage is desired. Patients find that this offers the most flexibility as it allows them to compress different sections of their leg as needed. Another popular garment combination is our upper leg, knee piece, and lower leg configuration, which offers even more flexibility but is slightly bulkier and slightly more time-consuming to don. Many find the lower legging sufficient for day time use and combine it with the Comfort Capri™ for upper leg support.
