CircAid Medical Products believes in and utilizes the technology incorporated in short-stretch bandaging with one important emphasis, patient independence. We parallel the proven result approach of bandaging with the same less aggressive mindset to achieve the limb volume reduction and maintenance. With CircAid products skin integrity is maintained and patient comfort and compliance increase. Many of our products incorporate the same widely used flat, comforting, non-aggressive foam that is used in bandaging.
The Parallels of CircAid Technology and Bandaging
-Rationale- |
CircAid Technology
Bandaging
Because of the inelastic nature of our products materials, establishes a lower compression force when resting, increasing the patients comfort.
Establish a low resting pressure
When a patient is standing or moving the inelastic material provides a higher working pressure to counteract the pressures of gravity and activates the calf-muscle pump. This prevents fluid reflux and maintains the volume of the limb.
Establish a high working pressure
-Foam Padding Objectives- |
CircAid Technology
Bandaging
CircAid products use a flat foam as in bandaging to apply even, firm, gradient compression. The garments incorporate strategically placed seams to aid in conforming to limb shape.
Apply an even compression gradient.
CircAid products may be custom made to conform to uniquely shaped limbs and accommodate patient needs.
Accommodate compromised areas of the limb while maintaining gradient compression.
The garments incorporate protective padding while maintaining a compression gradient. Non-aggressive foam is used in our garments to eliminate possible irritation or harm. This allows the garment to be used safely outside a professional hands-on environment promoting patient independence.
Prevent unnecessary irritation or harm to compromised skin.
CircAid products are designed for durability and ease of use. Our products allow patients to lead independent lives.
Fabricate a lasting compression system that allows patient independence.
Because of the inelastic nature of CircAid products, when a patient is in a resting position there are no constricting properties of the garment which may cause discomfort. When the patient is active the inelasticity counteracts the pressure of gravity and aids the calf muscle pump in fluid removal.
Ensure high working pressures and low resting pressures to aid the calf-muscle pump.

-Method-
CircAid Technology
Bandaging
A cotton stockinette or sock is provided with our products to protect the skin and absorb excess perspiration.
Use a stockinette beneath the bandages.
CircAid garments are tightened beginning distally ending proximally.
Apply starting distally to proximally.
CircAid products' liners can be laundered frequently for infection control. The products maintain appropriate compression 2-4 times longer than bandages.
Bandages must be laundered regularly for infection control and to renew stretch.
-Goals-
The primary goal of CircAid garments is to assist limb reduction and maintenance of reduced limb volume.
Reduce limb volume and prevent the reaccumulation of lymph.
Because of the inelastic nature of our garments, they provide the forces necessary within tissue spaces and capillaries to ensure that the fluid entering tissue spaces equals the fluid leaving, i.e. normalized lymph flow.
Utilizing Starlings Law, normalizing lymph flow.
CircAid Garments maintain the shape of the limb and by using non or limited stretch materials that don't allow volume change because of their inelastic quality.
Confine the limb to size.
